Not Happily Ever After II
Not Happily Ever After II examines the complexities of marriage and intimate relationships through the wedding handkerchief, an object traditionally associated with sentiment, ceremony, and love. Embroidered words and phrases complicate those associations, reflecting the contradictions that can exist within relationships: love and resentment, intimacy and distance, commitment and separation.
The series questions the promise of “happily ever after” and the expectation that a relationship must last forever to have value. Made in porcelain, the handkerchief becomes both fragile and permanent, holding words and experiences that are often far less certain.

I Love you, It's Over

Hand built porcelain, underglaze, encaustic, embroidery floss
I Love You, It’s Over considers the distance between the words “I love you” and the moment a relationship ends. “I LOVE YOU” appears beneath hazy encaustic; red embroidery crosses through “LOVE” and replaces it with “it’s over.” The encaustic acts as a veil, suggesting memory, uncertainty, and changing understanding.
